Man in Manhattan was charged with the alleged murder and dismemberment of his roommate over food dispute; his torso was located in the East River.
Christian Millet, 24, was arrested Wednesday night on second-degree murder charges in connection with the brutal killing of his 65-year-old roommate, Edwin Echevarria. The two men had been living together in an apartment at 60 Columbia St. on the Lower East Side, within the 7th Precinct’s jurisdiction.
Sources close to the investigation revealed that the argument between Millet and Echevarria started over food. The dispute turned violent when Millet reportedly stabbed Echevarria up to 13 times with a knife.
Millet was arrested at his home and charged on February 12 while being held at the 7th Precinct stationhouse.
On Thursday, detectives led Millet, handcuffed, from the 7th Precinct and into a waiting police car for his transfer to Manhattan Criminal Court. He remained silent during the perp walk as reporters questioned him about the alleged crime.
